Motograter is back, and they’re stronger than ever. In 2013, Motograter reunited with new members and just released a new album.
Motograter formed in the mid-1990’s, originally featuring Ivan Moody as their vocalist before he joined Five Finger Death Punch. Motograter is best known for their own instrument called the “motograter” which is made of various guitar parts, and is used in place of a bass. Motograter reunited in 2013 after several break-ups and reunions. They got a new vocalist, James Legion, and an additional percussionist, Jonathan “Zero” Price. On August 11 of this year, Motograter released their newest album Desolation.
Experiencing a Motograter live set is like no other. These guys are all painted up and going crazy on-stage. Seeing the motograter in-person is also ridiculous. Not gonna lie, I was feeling a bit nostalgic listening to their music. When I was first got into listening to metal, the nu-metal movement was going strong. Motograter was one of the bands that emerged during this period. It’s cool seeing the style is reviving!
I also have to say, I’m a big fan of James. He has a great voice; it’s difficult finding a vocalist with powerful growls and cleans, and James does exceptional with both. I even like him better than Ivan with the band. So great job on finding an awesome singer!
I was able to speak to Zero and guitarist Matt “Nuke” Nunes while they were playing at The Orpheum in Tampa, Florida. In the interview we discuss the Desolation Tour, Desolation, the new members, and the future.
